Airport utility an error occurred while updating the configuration chatterbox sussex new jersey
In both cases, Air Port Utility will happily allow me to set up the Time Capsule and have it join my existing network. When I go back and tell Air Port Utility to have it my wireless network, the Time Capsule tries to update itself and then just fails. As it's currently written, it’s hard to tell exactly what you're asking.See the How to Ask page for help clarifying this question.Apple is doing this in a proprietary way and non Apple hardware is not supported. In any case Wi Fi extension is generally flaky and to be avoided. It seemed/sounded like you just wanted to take the signal, bounce it to the TC then to the Express.
For some reason I was finally able to reach it after unplugging the Airport Express that was configured to extend the network, but I wasn't able to get it configured in a way that would work with the two routers. So I did a factory reset on the Airport Extreme and now Airport Utility only shows it under "Other Wi-Fi Devices" and when I try to connect to it, "An unexpected error occurred". I'd guess that my computer was somehow expecting information it wasn't getting and I should find some way to delete all of Airport Utility's remembered data.
Unless you have a firmware that supports WDS on your 3rd party wireless router.
The Time Capsule can only "extend" a wireless signal....using wireless only...another Air Port Extreme, Time Capsule, or Air Port Express.
This release also updates the brand new Airport Extreme and Time Capsule devices with dual-band networking to fix a few bugs that were not caught in the initial release.
It does not, however, enable dual-band networking or guest networking on older devices as that feature relies on the new hardware found in the Early 2009 versions of the Airport Extreme and Time Capsule.
